Looking for a powerful fantasy description generator? I’ve built a set of tools that I’ll talk more about below. They’re built using the GPT-3 API from OpenAI. It’s a powerful language model neural net that enables high-quality generation of all sorts of content, including that suitable for fantasy tabletop RPG campaigns with D&D, Pathfinder, or other game systems. If you want to know more about the epic fantasy description generators I’ve created, keep reading. If you have any questions or want to stay informed, follow me on Twitter.
D&D Character Backstory Generator
Back in 2019, when I was playing with GPT-2 from OpenAI, I came across a blog post by Janelle Shane talking about how she was using GPT-2 to generate character backstories. I loved the idea. After getting her permission, I pruned and added to the collection of backstories she had collected from her fans.
That first GPT-2 backstory generator I created was rough, but it showed promising results. A little while later, OpenAI announced the GPT-3 API beta! I signed up and was lucky enough to get early access after showing all the work I’d done with GPT-2 and explaining that I wanted to use GPT-3 for more Dungeons and Dragons goodness.
I spent a lot of time writing and collecting good character backstories and used those as examples for two-shot prompts with GPT-3 Davinci model. The results were even better than a fine-tuned GPT-2. I quickly launched LitRPG Adventures with the character backstory generator and a few other surprises in store.
Fantasy Character Description Generators
As mentioned, I quickly realized I could do a lot more than just character backstory generators. I split them all into three buckets, including Character, World, and Dungeon generators. For my fantasy Character description generators, I ended up with generators for backstories, spells, skills, quests, patrons, and fantasy races.
Fantasy World Generators
The world generators include generators for overland areas, towns and cities, taverns and inns, magic shops, thieves’ guilds, governments, common NPCs (think bakers and blacksmiths), and world prompts for tools like Novel AI, Kobold AI, and Dungeon AI. Even better, there’s a library of a lot of these items already generated.

Fantasy Dungeon Description Generators
The fantasy dungeon description generators include ones for dungeon locations, creatures, undead, mimics, two for magic items (one is more table-ready), and an NPC adventurer generator. In addition to all these, I also have several science-fiction themed RPG generators at LitRPG Adventures that you should check out.
Fantasy Description Generator Collection
If you want to see the highlight of all my work, head over to LitRPG Adventures and become a member today. I’ve got a few free sites like Random Encounters AI, Backstory Generator, and others, but most of the advanced generators are only available at LitRPG Adventures. It costs to run the AI, and I need to make a little money to keep food on the table as I invest hundreds of more hours into the project. Thanks for the support!
