I’ve got five great DnD Dwarf Barbarian Backstory examples. They were all created with LitRPG Adventures, an advanced RPG generator I built using GPT-3 (and now ChatGPT and GPT-4) from OpenAI. Feel free to use these in your fantasy tabletop RPG campaign.

Caelver Carlstone – Male Dwarf Barbarian
STR 17 INT 13 WIS 13 DEX 17 CON 15 CHA 13
Born in Yorebridge (Grabisco Kingdom)
Backstory:
Caelver was born in Yorebridge in the Grabisco Kingdom. His father’s family goes back many generations in the city, and his family is known for their great skill in crafting weapons. His father was a master bladesmith, and he taught Caelver everything he needed to know in order to become a master in his own right.
Caelver has spent his life in the forge, crafting the finest weapons in Yorebridge. He has worked hard for this position. He has faced many challengers in the arena, but he has always emerged victorious. He’s even had to accept the occasional offer to teach in order to keep his reputation in Yorebridge. Many would-be warriors come to Caelver’s forge to learn the art of crafting and fighting. None have been able to best him.
Personality:
Caelver is a jovial and happy man. He’s always laughing and joking with his friends. He can be serious when the time calls for it, but he spends most of his time enjoying the finer things in life. He loves to drink and to eat, and he loves to enjoy the company of friends.
Appearance:
Caelver is a large, stout dwarf with long, red hair and a bushy red beard. He has deep blue eyes and a wide, jovial face. He is always smiling, and his muscular frame is covered by a smith’s apron and heavy clothes. He carries a massive hammer and a long sword.

Start of Character:

P’lug Pickaxe – Female Dwarf Barbarian
STR 17 INT 12 WIS 7 DEX 15 CON 14 CHA 12
Born in Dola’s Campsite (Grabisco Kingdom)
Backstory:
P’lug was born in the cold mountains of Grabisco. She never had a father, but her mother told her that the father of her children was dead. She became a miner when she was younger, mining for gold and platinum. She would send the gold home to her mother, but she kept the platinum for herself.
She became a very rich dwarf, but her mother did not care. Her mother did not care about money, she was only interested in P’lug. P’lug did not care about wealth or diamonds or jewels. She only cared about her mother, and was happy that her mother was happy.
She would never leave her mother, but her mother died a few years ago. Her mother died of a rock fall in the mines. P’lug lost her only friend and now she has nothing. She has no reason to live, but she has no reason to die either.
She has no reason to live, but she has no reason to die either. She does not know how to live, but she does not know how to die. She does not know what to do. P’lug is a confused dwarf who has lost her way, and is too afraid to find a new one.
Personality:
P’lug is a sad dwarf. She has a strong sense of duty, and a deep melancholy. She is very distant, and seems to be lost in her own thoughts. She is a strong believer in loyalty and friendship, but she does not have much of either. She is a lonely dwarf who lost her only friend.
Appearance:
P’lug is a short, stocky female dwarf. She has a grim expression on her face and a broken golem heart. She has bright, hidden eyes that guide her through her life. She wears a bright red mining outfit, and carries a bright yellow pickaxe and a teleportation scroll everywhere she goes.
Her mother gave her the scroll and told her to use it to travel the world and make new friends. She has never used it though, and she has never left her camp. She is afraid of the outside world, and is very lonely.
Start of Character:
P’lug is currently wandering the wilderness of Grabisco, hoping to find a new purpose in life.
Ugly Gus – Male Dwarf Barbarian
STR 18/31 INT 14 WIS 14 DEX 12 CON 18 CHA 11
Born in Vyrnus Village
Backstory:
When he was born, the midwife said that “This child will lead you nowhere.” She was right. Gus lived with his family in a small house. His father was a farmer who worked the fields, and his mother worked hard to make ends meet.
When Gus was 15 years old, his father died and his mother could no longer pay the bills. Gus was left to fend for himself in the streets. Life was hard. He had to steal to survive and soon became a wanted criminal in the city.
Personality:
Gus is a very greedy and self-serving person. He’s not really a bad guy, but he likes to help himself to the best of everything.

Gus is a short but very strong dwarf. He has lots of scars and has long, dirty hair. He looks like a drunkard and smells like one, too.
Start of Character:
Gus is still very young, and he is always looking to make a quick buck. He likes to roam the streets of the city and harass people, but he is always looking for a way to make an easy buck. He’s looking for a way out of the crime life.
Krumrum Kobbelstone – Female Dwarf Barbarian
STR 15 INT 14 WIS 15 DEX 8 CON 17 CHA 13
Born in Esterap (Grabisco Kingdom)
Backstory:
Krumrum never met her real mother. She was raised by her paternal grandmother, Felicia. Her grandmother was very ill and bedridden, and could not care for the small dwarf girl. She lived with her father and his wife, and they were very good to her.
She was a little bit spoiled and was used to getting what she wanted. When she was old enough to work, she worked with her father in the family business, making and selling weapons and armor.
She was taught how to make her own, but she was never very good at it. She was a much better salesperson than she was a crafter, and she was an excellent salesperson, selling her family’s goods to anyone who would have them.
She became a successful merchant, and her father and husband were very proud of her. She was very popular among the dwarves in Esterap, and was a little bit famous. She had a lot of friends, but a few enemies who were jealous of her success.
She had a talent for buying and selling, and was very good at knowing what people wanted, and how much they were willing to pay for it. She was a very good merchant.
Personality:
Krumrum is a happy, outgoing dwarf. She is a good leader, and a good friend. She cares about others and wants the best for them. She is a little greedy, but she is very honest about it.
Appearance:
Krumrum is short, with a broad frame. She has a small, crooked nose and a gruff voice. Her eyebrows are thick, and she has a prominent Adam’s apple. She is a little bit vain, and she is fond of shiny things. She has an eye for beautiful things, even though she can’t make them herself.
Start of Character:
Krumrum is a merchant, traveling the kingdom of Grabisco to sell her goods. She is a dwarf with a reputation, and most people know who she is.
Zrverdan Rockhammer – Male Dwarf Barbarian
Born in Fane (Grabisco Kingdom)
Backstory:
Zrverdan is a Dwarf from Fane, a country in the Grabisco Kingdom. His father, a brewer, died when he was young, and Zrverdan’s mother remarried a merchant from the capital. When Zrverdan was fifteen, his stepfather sold him to a caravan to gain a profit.
Zrverdan learned many things about traveling through Fane and Ladale. He learned how to speak the language of the humans and the Halflings, how to trade with them, and even how to cook a stew.
He made friends with a few of the guards from the king’s army, so he knew enough about the human lands to travel there without fear of being captured. He planned on going to the Lanze of Elaris someday, where he planned to find a gold vein to bring home.

He is a kind and generous Dwarf, with a deep-seated loyalty to those who have earned it. He knows the value of hard work and is always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He is a lead-by-example type of Dwarf and is always willing to do what needs to be done.
Appearance:
He is a tall Dwarf, with a long beard and braided hair. He wears a Dwarven axe on his belt, and he has a hand axe hanging from his belt as well.
Start of Character:
Zrverdan is traveling as a caravan guard as they make their way to the Lanze of Elaris, where he hopes to find a gold vein to take home.
