As a full-time self-published author, I’m always looking at the money side of the business to ensure my lights stay on. With that said, I love the creative writing part of my job. Occasionally over the last few years, I’ve had to choose between writing what I love to read and writing to make a living.
Late last year, Dean Wesley Smith wrote on his blog: “Artistic freedom means you can write whatever novel or story you want. You can chase markets for more money or you can chase your own dreams, or a combination of both.”
Up until this point in my career as a full-time writer, I’ve concentrated more on chasing the romance market for money. After writing millions of words in a genre I’m not passionate about, I’m excited to be getting into LitRPG.
