Best RPG Games on a Budget – X-Box
Here’s my list of the best RPG games on a budget if you play the Xbox.
Dark Souls Remastered – Xbox One
This is a classic and should be available right around twenty dollars. It’s not an EASY game, but sometimes that’s just the type of RPG you want. You can save money and still get your RPG thrills with this remastered classic.
Diablo III Eternal Collection – Xbox One
This title creeps toward the $30 level, but that doesn’t mean you should forget about it. Diablo III has been out a while now. It’s still not perfect – no game ever will be – but it’s a great top-down RPG experience with lots of loot.
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of An Elusive Age – Xbox One
This is a long-lasting series that’s well-loved by many. You can pick up this chapter for around $20 which is a steal for the many hours of grinding and adventure you will be having. This style of RPG is not for everyone, but it’s worth a look.
Best RPG Games on a Budget – Switch
Next, we have some of the best RPG games on a budget for Switch players.
West Of Loathing
Available for around $10, this is a very stylized RPG that takes place in the Old West. You might be surprised by how immersed you become in the adventure as you make your way through the Old West, leveling up like a cowboy.
Again, this style of RPG will not be for everyone, but if you’re looking for something chill and laid back, then grab Stardew Valley for under $20 or under. The game is a delightful RPG that has you farming and learning more about the world around you.
Cat Quest 2
If you missed the first one, you’ll want to check it out, but Cat Quest 2 is available for under $20 on the Switch, and it’s a pun-filled adventure for cat lovers. Even if you don’t love cats, you’ll still get a kick out of this ARPG. Yes, an action RPG. Meow!
Best RPG Games on a Budget – PC
There’s a lot to choose from here, but this is my list of the best RPG games on a budget for PC gamers.
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind
Make sure you get the Game of the Year Edition. While it’s very much dated – ie old graphics – it will run on almost any computer these days. All that aside, this is an in-depth RPG that will have you spending hundreds of hours exploring the world.
Baldur’s Gate I and II Enhanced Edition
These can be picked up pretty cheap now, and they might get you in the mood for the more expensive (and new) Baldur’s Gate 3 which is being made by the fine folks who made Divinity Original Sin II. The original Baldur’s Gates games were revolutionary for their time, and they’re still good today.
Disco Elysium – The Final Cut
This is currently on sale at Steam, so check it out now if you’re interested. This is a great RPG that is unlike a lot of others. You play a detective that must slowly solve the case. Lots of great dialogue and choices in this one!
Best RPG Games on a Budget – Playstation
Here’s by list of the best RPG games on a budget for Playstation gamers. (Play-station!)
Dark Souls III
Yes, Dark Souls has made our list again. It’s cheap (under $20) and a lot of fun if you like non-easy RPG experiences. You’re going to hate this one for a while, but as you slowly improve, you’re going to feel like you’re actually accomplishing something.
The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition
Available for around $20 most places, The Witcher 3 Game of the Year Edition is the penultimate edition of the Witcher 3. There’s a reason this game did so well. The immersion is fantastic, and there’s a lot of ways you can take the story as you play.
Dragon Quest XI Echoes Of An Elusive Age
This is one of the more expensive titles on our list at around $30, but it’s worth it if you’re a fan of the Dragon Quest game series. Even if you’re not a fan, you might still want to check it out, as there’s a reason the series has been going so long.
